Saturday April 27, Matisse, 15, lost his life in a brawl in Châteauroux (Indre). On Monday, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal began discussions with political parties, in order to find ways to stop the violence of part of the youth. “For us, on the ground, what matters to us is how we react, as police officers, when we see kids who are outside the structure”explains Jean-Christophe Couvy, national secretary of the SGP Police FO union, in 19/20 info.

“School is there to instruct, not to educate”

“The school is there to instruct, not to educate. (…) Education is done at home”, believes Jean-Christophe Couvy. According to the national secretary of the SGP Police FO union, “the State is no longer doing its job” and left “too much freedom for these kids”. “We have the impression today that the children have taken power”continues Jean-Christophe Couvy, now that there is “a parental responsibility”.
