A somewhat special auction was held in Marseille. Jewellery, racing cars and grand crus seized have delighted collectors.

In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) only 21,000 euros for a Chevrolet Corvette, a very popular collector’s car. In this auction led by the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AGRASC), objects seized from mafia trafficking are offered for the first time at the Palais de la Bourse. Rolex, vintage wines and other rare items are offered at reduced prices to buyers.

The money collected goes entirely to the State. “The proceeds from the sales will make it possible either to contribute to the general budget of the State, a competition fund which will make it possible to buy high-tech equipment for the police and the gendarmes to fight against traffickersexplains Nicolas Bessonne, Managing Director of the agency. Otherwise it can be used for actions of reintegration of drug addicts or compensation of victims. Justice collected 500,000 euros from this exceptional sale.
