A parliamentary report on French sports federations denounces “systemic failures” concerning ethics and the fight against sexual violence. Sabrina Sebaihi, EELV MP and rapporteur of this commission of inquiry was the guest of 12/13 info, Tuesday January 23.
According to a parliamentary report, French sports federations are “plagued by the culture of secrecy”. “The report was based on 92 hearings, but also on the work of the general inspection of the Court of Auditors, and there are failures, they are systemic, the State was slow to act in many cases”details Sabrina Sebaihi, EELV deputy and rapporteur of this commission of inquiry. “Things have started to change, but it’s not going fast enough, it’s not going far enough and the tools put in place are ineffective at best”deplores the MP.
A cell to collect the words of victims
She also mentions the Signal Sport cell which must collect the words of victims and report failures and abuses. But according to Sabrina Sebaihi, “we must broaden the scope of this unit and communicate widely about its existence. Less than 10% of the people interviewed know of the existence of this unit”.
