the start of a mutiny at the migrant detention center

Mattress fires, escape attempts through the roofs, violence against the police (…) A beginning of mutiny broke out at the administrative detention center of Mesnil-Amelot, in Seine-et-Marne, around 9 p.m. Saturday August 6th. No injuries are reported but the police were not able to restore calm until 1 am. More than thirty police officers came as reinforcements.

“No riot, no mutiny”

About twenty people tried to force a fence to escape“, describes the prefecture, “it’s neither riots nor a mutiny“. The SGP Police Unit union, on the other hand, underlines an evening punctuated with violence, and the call for several reinforcement units from 77 and 93. The origin of the revolt remains unknown at this stage.

In the end, the evening did not result in any escapes or injuries on the part of the police, but the fires caused numerous damage in the living areas of the detainees.
