The Stars tie the series against the Kraken

(Seattle) Joe Pavelski scored his sixth goal of the series in a four-goal second period for the Dallas Stars, who routed the Seattle Kraken 6-3 Tuesday night in Game 4 to tie the series.


Pavelski gave the Stars a 4-0 lead midway through the second period.

Jamie Benn scored late in the first period to give the Stars the lead. It was his third goal in his last 23 playoff games, and defenseman Thomas Harley made it 2-0 early in the second period.

Kraken’s Jaden Schwartz scored late in the second period to make it 4-1 and added a second goal early in the third period. Adam Larsson scored with 4:11 remaining to put the Kraken 5-3 after Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger made several crucial saves earlier in the third period.

Domi added an empty-netter with 2:21 remaining for the Stars.

Oettinger, who was retired after allowing five goals on 17 shots in Game 3, had two quiet first periods before making some key saves in the third period, and finished with 16 saves.

Grubauer finished with 17 saves on 22 shots and was replaced by Martin Jones for the third period.

Game 5 is Thursday night in Dallas.
