Wales no longer have a choice. Beaten in its first four matches in the Six Nations Tournament, the Leek XV is obliged to beat Italy on Saturday March 16 in Cardiff (at 3:15 p.m., to be followed on France 2 and france.tv). In the event of another setback, the Welsh would collect their first Wooden Spoon in 21 years. If a victory would save the furniture, it might not be enough to leave last place in the Tournament.

Wales must in fact make up for its four points behind Italy, and has every interest, to avoid apothecary calculations, in winning with a bonus while not leaving any points to the Italians. The Welsh will also try to heal the exit of the emblematic center or winger George North. At 31, he will celebrate his 121st and final cap before joining Provence Rugby next summer in Pro D2.

The task is far from easy, especially against this Nazionale which is having its best Tournament since 2013. Eye-catching against France (13-13), heroic against Scotland (31-29), Italy will attempt to complete a Tournament with only two defeats for the first time in its history. The Italians know how to go about it in Cardiff, where they won during their last trip (22-21) in 2022. But they will have to do without Ange Capuozzo, flamboyant and decisive during this meeting.
