The new adventure of the Blues begins at the Parc des Princes. Facing Italy for their entry into the Nations League, Friday, September 6 at 8:45 p.m., the Tricolores set off on the road to the 2026 World Cup. In a group also composed of Belgium and Israel, the French will aim for one of the first two places and a qualification for the quarter-finals, scheduled for March 2025 in this new format of the competition. Facing them, an Italy in reconstruction which is coming off an even more disappointing Euro, concluded by an elimination in the round of 16 against Switzerland.

For this new cycle, Didier Deschamps has placed his trust in a majority of players who were present at the Euro, but has also chosen to throw in some of the strong men from the Olympic Games like Manu Koné or Michael Olise, while Loïc Badé joined the group later, as did the returnees Lucas Digne and Mattéo Guendouzi. After his disappointing Euro and his debut at Real Madrid, the captain, Kylian Mbappé, will be expected to turn a corner.
