The SQDC appoints Robert Dalcourt as interim CEO

(Montreal) The Quebec Cannabis Society (SQDC) announced Thursday the appointment of Robert Dalcourt as interim president and chief executive officer, following the appointment of its former boss, Jacques Farcy, to head the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ).

Robert Dalcourt joined the SQDC in 2018, where he first held the position of director, before becoming vice-president of the finance department, said the state-owned company.

Mr. Dalcourt played a “key role” in the financial planning of the SQDC, in addition to contributing significantly to the company’s 2024-2026 strategic planning.

He has over 35 years of experience in strategic management, accounting and finance, particularly in the manufacturing and food distribution sectors.

In the press release announcing the interim appointment, the SQDC indicated that the process of recruiting its next leader would begin “quickly” and would be overseen by the board of directors of the state-owned company, without giving further details.

The SAQ announced Wednesday evening that Jacques Farcy will become its next president and chief executive officer as of June 26, replacing Catherine Dagenais, who has held this position since 2018 and will now retire.

Mr. Farcy had already worked for the SAQ between 2015 and 2021. During his mandate at the SQDC, he contributed to the implementation of 90-minute delivery in several regions of the province, and prepared the next strategic plan for the state corporation.
