The SQ is still trying to recover the little girl who fell into the Mistassibi River

The search continues for a sixth consecutive day to recover a 4-year-old girl who fell last Friday into the Mistassibi River, in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.

It is now a recovery location mission, Sergeant Hugues Beaulieu, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), indicated on Tuesday.

“Today, the searches are concentrated mainly with police officers who observe the river in strategic points and there is also on the water downstream from the scene of the event, a boat from the Sûreté du Québec which checks the banks », Mentioned Mr. Beaulieu.

Friday, December 22, emergency services were called to the place where the little girl was sliding with her mother, in Dolbeau-Mistassini, when the tragedy occurred around 2:30 p.m., near a hiking trail located near Route 169.

It was at this point that the child was unable to stop his course, passing through the mesh of a guardrail installed along the bank and then finding himself in the waters of the river.

With the family’s agreement, the provincial police released a photo of the girl’s clothing at the time of her disappearance, calling on residents and citizens driving near the river to contact the police if they saw any clothing similar to those in the photo.

The little girl was wearing a multi-colored winter coat, as well as blue snow pants.
