The SPVM is looking for victims of a repeat offender

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) is looking for potential victims of Alain Provost, a man accused of having harassed and threatened several women over the past five years.

Alain Provost used the same modus operandi with his victims. After choosing their number at random, he contacted them on numerous occasions under the cover of a false identity, described the SPVM in a press release. “Investigators have strong reason to believe that he could have caused other victims in Quebec,” we can read.

When women refused to answer his questions about their schedule and physical activity, the 36-year-old man insulted them and made incoherent comments. “Sometimes he just breathes, sighs or moans,” continued the SPVM, adding that the accused also communicated in writing with his victims and sometimes sent them photos of himself.

The repeat offender in terms of criminal harassment and harassing communication would have struck in Montreal, Terrebonne and Sherbrooke, according to the SPVM, which describes him as “a white-skinned man speaking French. He is 5’10” tall and weighs 180 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes. »

The Eastern Criminal Investigation Section of the SPVM arrested Alain Provost on June 5 in collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec, the Intermunicipal Police Service of Terrebonne/Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines/Bois-des-Filion as well as the Sherbrooke Police Department. After appearing on June 6 at the Montreal courthouse, he remains detained.

The SPVM invited “any person who may have been a victim or who knows someone who could have been a victim of Alain Provost” to file an official complaint by going to their neighborhood station or by calling 911.
