(Montreal) The Montreal Police Department (SPVM) is investigating an arson attack on an office building in the borough of Saint-Léonard.
Emergency services were notified on Saturday, around 11 p.m., when flames started at the rear of the building located on Jarry Street, near Collerette Street.
“According to initial information, one or more suspects smashed a window at the rear of the building and subsequently an incendiary object was thrown inside. An incendiary object was found on the scene,” said agent Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.
The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) and the damage was minimal.
There were no injuries as no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
“There are no arrests at this time. Checks will be made on possible surveillance cameras located near the premises,” underlined Officer Chèvrefils.
The investigation was entrusted to the Arson Section of the SPVM.
