The SPVM is investigating a collision between a car and a stroller in Montreal

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) has opened a “hit-and-run” investigation into a collision in Outremont, where a motorist allegedly ran into a stroller last Wednesday at an intersection in the borough, before leaving the premises without assisting the child.

“It’s overwhelming,” confides in an interview Mayer Feig, one of the directors of the organization Hatzoloh Montreal, which offers emergency medical services in the metropolis, particularly in Jewish communities.

On November 16, a friend of his went to the scene of the collision, which occurred at the intersection of Bloomfield and Lajoie avenues, after hearing screams, Mr. Feig told the To have to. A video captured by the security camera of a resident of Bloomfield Street and circulating on social networks suggests that the motorist did not make his mandatory stop. He then hit the stroller before continuing on his way. The mother managed to avoid the car, while her child was transported to a hospital center, says Mayer Feig. The approximately one-year-old child was not injured.

Joined by The duty, the SPVM confirmed that an investigation was opened after this collision, which was the subject of a call to 911 around 2:40 p.m. on November 16. This investigation concerns a hit-and-run since witnesses met the same day by the police force reported that the motorist left the scene without providing assistance to the child of about one year who was in the stroller.

The suspect in question has not yet been identified and it is not known at this stage what charges, if any, he faces. It is also too early to know if the driver in question violated the Highway Safety Code, says the SPVM.

On social networks, several Internet users are also trying to collect information that could lead to the identification of the driver involved in this case.
