A new government is added to the list of victims of Pegasus. The mobile phones of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and his Minister of Defense Margarita Robles were tapped “illegal” and “external” by means of Israeli spyware, affirmed the Minister of the Spanish Presidency during a press conference convened urgently, Monday, May 2.
“It’s not about guesswork”insisted the manager, who did not wish to make any “conjecture” on the reasons for this espionage or appoint a person responsible. Facts “of enormous gravity” occurred in May and June 2021. Additional scans are being performed on the devices of other members of government.
The Pegasus software found itself exposed the same year after surveys published by a consortium of 17 international media. According to them, the Pegasus software has made it possible to spy on the phones of journalists, politicians, activists and business leaders in many countries, including many French politicians.
