It’s the end of two and a half weeks of suspense. This Saturday, JS Cherbourg unveiled the name and face of its new coach: Eduard Fernandez Roura. The 43-year-old Spaniard, from Barcelona, takes over from Frédéric Bougeant, who arrived in 2020 and left after two seasons at the head of the club.
The Nice coach signs for three seasons at the JSC
The new JSC coach passed several years at the Nice club. First as a pivot at the end of his playing career, then as a coach from 2015. The following year, he allowed the club to rise from Nationale 1 to Proligue. After a quick stint in the Pays d’Aix in the StarLigue, he returned to the benches of Cavigal Nice, which he climbed into the play-offs this season, finishing fourth in the regular championship.
Eduard Fernandez Roura is committed alongside Cherbourg handball players for three seasons, until 2025. He will be accompanied by one of his compatriots, José-Luis Villanueva Lopez. The duo will take the reins of the team on July 25, for the summer preparation.
