The song dreams of luxurious feasts

Justice is closely interested in a sumptuous dinner given by Laurent Wauquiez, the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. 100,000 euros for 90 guests, that invites us to dream about the menu.

“It takes large sums to eat well. In the century we live in, we no longer know how to eat” : certainly, we can complain about it but justice finds fault when a local authority spends too much in a single meal.

We told you about it this week on France Info, searches took place at the headquarters of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region as part of an open investigation into a sumptuous dinner given by Laurent Wauquiez, the president of the region, in June 2022 – we are talking about a little over 100,000 euros for 90 guests. It actually does “large sums to eat well”.

But Laurent Naouri was just singing a score from 1860, the opera The Dove by Charles Gounod. And, already at the time, we regret the time when the kings gave banquets which could last a month. Nostalgia.
