The son of Bernard Tapie is raising funds to erect a statue in honor of his father, former president of Olympique de Marseille, learned franceinfo Friday May 25 from his son Laurent Tapie, while OM celebrates the 30 years of his European coronation. On May 26, 1993, the Marseillais, led by Didier Deschamps, won the Champions League against AC Milan 1 – 0, becoming the only French club to have won a European title.

Laurent Tapie has created an association “forever the first“, in order to be able to build, in Marseille, a statue to the glory of his father. This statue, which Laurent Tapie designed, represents the former president of OM carried by six Marseille players, including Didier Deschamps, and brandishing the European trophy.

Friday, May 25, Laurent Tapie will be in Marseille alongside former players from the Marseille club to commemorate this victory.
