Monday, June 20, the 20 Hours presents the concept of solidarity life. A property is bought by a cooperative, which helps the elderly person to stay at home.

Soon to be 92 and 75 years old, two seniors have sold their home for life and continue to live there. Lucien Simon has thus opted for the solidarity life annuity which allows the sale of his accommodation not to an individual, but to a cooperative. The 75-year-old man received a capital of 25,000 euros and a monthly pension of 1,000 euros, calculated according to the value of his property and his age. With the solidarity life annuity, the cooperative organizes home support for the owner. “Ultimately, we will advise him to set up a cleaning lady to relieve him (…) we are this shoulder on which they can rest”explains Chloé Saxod, coordinator of the solidarity life annuity “3 Colonnes”.

The solidarity life annuity is aimed at seniors with modest incomes. With the money, Marguerite Dubreuil, 92, can adapt her apartment by installing a shower, but also by motorizing one of her windows. “We are really here to create a retirement home for them at home, so that they can really feel at home”indicates Magali Fernandes , ccoordinator of the “3 Colonnes” solidarity life annuity.
