The Solidarity Circle of Corsican companies blows out its first candle

The origins of the Solidarity Circle of Corsican Enterprises

November 2020: The Covid 19 epidemic and containment have severely impacted the Corsican economy. Many companies have suffered from a slowdown or even a shutdown. The Mutual of Corsica therefore wished to concretely support its member companies by exempting them from the payment of part of their charges, i.e. nearly 1.2 million euros in mutual contributions. This unprecedented measure of solidarity has thus made it possible to help the most troubled households and businesses.

December 2020: Solidarity on the move

However, all companies exempt from their December contribution were not severely impacted by the Covid crisis. This is why some of them have expressed their willingness to in turn support those who need it. Thus the Mutuelle de la Corse invited companies that could, to form a CORSIAN COMPANIES SOLIDARITY CIRCLE and donate their mutual insurance contributions for the month of December

Among the beneficiaries, the Solidarity Fund of the Corsican Chamber of Commerce and Industry to help small local shops, the Foundation of the University of Corsica to support students in precarious situations, or one or more local associations working to improve the health and daily life of Corsicans

From January to June 2021, the solidarity companies sent, either through the mutual company or directly to the chosen structure, all or part of the amount of the employer’s share of their December contribution.

What next for the Solidarity Circle?

In order to continue their approach, the donors and beneficiaries meeting on November 15, 2021 decided to draw up a charter for the circle, it will also be open to companies that are not members of the Mutuelle de la Corse, in order to help bring about projects intended to help companies and associations in need.
