Raphael Glucksmann regrets being “excluded” from the debate between Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and National Rally candidate Jordan Bardella

The head of the PS-Place publique list in the European elections believes that it is not “normal” to organize a debate “between the right and the extreme right while excluding the left” and involving the Prime Minister, who is not a candidate.

An unusual and contested format. Raphaël Glucksmann, the head of the PS-Place publique list in the European elections, regretted, on Sunday May 12, being “excluded” of the debate scheduled for May 23 on France 2 between the Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, and the National Rally candidate, Jordan Bardella.

“Do you find it normal for the public service to organize, two weeks before the European election, a debate (…) between the right and the extreme right, excluding the left?”the MEP was indignant in the program “Dimanche en politique” on France 3. The socialist candidate, whose list is “touch-touch according to all surveys” with that of the majority led by Valérie Hayer, “also finds it abnormal that Mrs Hayer is made invisible and replaced by the Prime Minister, who is not a candidate in the European elections”.

A “false duel” between the majority and the RN

“Permanently reestablishing this false duel between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, (…) it is extremely dangerous and it is suffocating millions of French people”estimates the one who leads the left-wing list best placed in the polls.

Asked about his desire to debate with Gabriel Attal, Raphaël Glucksmann does not answer precisely, and believes that “if they want to organize a debate between the government and the oppositions, they do it after the European elections”.

“Two weeks before the vote, this debate (…) between the right and the far right, between a Prime Minister who is not a candidate for the European elections and the head of the RN list is a denial of democracy”insisted Raphaël Glucksmann on the social network after the broadcast. “We will not let this false duel hijack the elections.”
