The First Secretary of the Socialist Party (PS), Olivier Faure, told La France insoumise that [sa] hand is outstretched” for an alliance in the legislative elections, in an interview with the newspaper Release Saturday April 16.

The First Secretary of the PS criticized the choice of Jean-Luc Mélenchon to hold discussions for the legislative elections with Europe Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV), the French Communist Party (PCF) and the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA) – but without the PS. “Unless you accept the idea that the left has only a minority vocation, it is not possible to refuse discussion with the left formation which has the strongest territorial network”according to Olivier Faure.

The deputy of Seine-et-Marne says he is ready to aim for unique candidates wherever the far-right threat exists”, “avoid fratricidal duels” and “agree as often as possible on the candidate who has the best chance of winning against the right”. But he refuses to fully support the program of La France insoumise, believing that “The gathering will never be caporalization. (…) We must come together on our common fights while respecting different stories and projects.
