“We will run one TGV out of two this weekend”, confirmed, Wednesday February 14, Christophe Fanichet, CEO of SNCF Voyageurs. In accordance with what had been announced, SNCF traffic will be severely disrupted in stations in the middle of the school holiday weekend due to a controllers’ strike.

In details, one in two Ouigos will circulate, one in two Intercités “day and night” will circulate, while international train traffic will also be disrupted, without further details being available. Traffic on traditional Ouigo trains will be normal. All the clients “will be notified today” of traffic or the elimination of their train, committed Christophe Fanichet.

The Minister of Transport says he is “surprised”

“All trains to the Alps will be insured”, promised Alain Krakovitch, director of TGV Intercités. The latter also assured that the “junior and company” service, which allows young people to travel without their family, would be maintained at 85%. A commercial measure “exceptional” was finally decided in favor of people whose train would be canceled this weekend: they will receive a code allowing them to make their next trip at -50% of the planned price, provided they reserve it within 30 days.

The government reacted through the Minister of Transport. “I am actually a little surprised by this strike this weekend (…) because it was recorded by the management of bonuses and salary increases which [font] envy of many of our fellow citizens”, declared Patrice Vergriete. The minister added that “the category of agents who are mobilizing this weekend in [avait] greatly benefited, with almost 20% salary increase in two years”.
