Can the French leave confident of having a full tank, for a weekend, or a little more for those who are going to afford a few days of vacation? The situation has improved, but remains fragile in Île-de-France, Friday, October 21.

On the vacation route, no traffic jams, and well-filled tanks. On a motorway rest area near Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), holidaymakers are smiling. The day has started well, the fuel is flowing. Others have organized themselves, like a family from the North, who travels 1,000 km to reach their vacation spot in the Var. “We took gas in Arras (Pas-de-Calais), then we were able to refuel on the motorway and there, we just did it”says the driver.

For others, taking the road for vacation has been synonymous with hassle. In the Paris region, you still had to be patient to fill up. But in other stations, the pumps were dry, or almost. Still others preferred not to take any risks by choosing the train. “It’s more serene”, says a traveler. Four million train tickets were sold for the All Saints holidays, including one million bought at the last minute.
