“the situation is deteriorating at high speed” in Ménuires and Val Thorens

“Many cases of Covid have been detected in our stations and our villages and in particular in the world of work, so we owe it to ourselves to react”, declare this thursday Claude Jay, mayor of the municipality of Les Belleville (Savoie) which hosts, among others, the ski resorts of Val-Thorens and Les Menuires. “We must take into account the situation, which is becoming significant in our territory, perhaps in Belleville faster than elsewhere, because the season was launched before (Saturday, November 20, note), but I think it is unfortunately a path that everyone is going to undergo quickly “.

On the site Covidtracker, the communities of communes Cœur de Tarentaise, Val Vanoise, Haute-Tarentaise, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and Haut-Chablais show this Thursday incidence rates higher than more than 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Today the situation is deteriorating at high speed, everyone must measure things and act

The municipality calls on everyone to respect the measures “which will allow us to save our season but also people’s health”. “It’s the wearing of a mask, hand washing, distancing … it’s true in the workplace, it’s also true in the after-work moments which could be festive … every employee, each seasonal worker, each department head must really become aware of the situation and send the right messages, or even be a little more directive about the instructions, this is the only way to be able to continue working “, insists the chosen one.

“After 18 months of pandemic, since November 20 we have test centers which are in place in Ménuires and Val Thorens, we are capable today, and it is exceptional in reality for a territory as small as the valley des Belleville, to test 600 people per day “ both in Les Ménuires and as much in Val Thorens, i.e. 1,200 people, explains Vincent Lalanne, director of the Val Thorens tourist office.

Vaccination is given as a priority to seasonal workers and people in the valley, with the aim of “limit the impact on economic activity as much as possible”. An operation “punch” will be conducted on Tuesday December 28 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., in conjunction with the Regional Health Agency, “to be able to vaccinate a person every three minutes”.
