The white march on Saturday June 29 will be “a moment of contemplation, a moment of commemoration, a moment of remembrance”explains Thursday June 27 Maître Nabil Boudi, lawyer for the mother of Nahel, 17, killed a year ago by a police officer in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine).

The teenager’s mother, Mounia Merzouk, called for a silent march “against police impunity” next Saturday in Nanterre, where the young man was killed during a traffic stop. “There will be Nahel’s relatives, there will be his childhood friends. Mounia needs this contemplation and to meet up with Nahel’s relatives to march for him.”explains his lawyer.

A year after the death of his son, which sparked riots in neighborhoods across France, there are still “a feeling of anger” at her mother’s house, according to her lawyer. “Mounia is a single mother, a saddened mother,” explains Maître Nabil Boudi. “There is a big gap in her life and that is something that the investigation will not be able to fill. It is something that mourning will not be able to fill. Every day, she wakes up without her son . She’s a single mother.”he added.
