The AIDS association Sidaction was hit by a cyberattack against the hosting system of one of its service providers, with “a possible risk of disclosure of personal data of certain donors”she announced Wednesday February 28. “Less than 20% of people who have donated since January 2023 could be affected”according to a press release distributed via the social network

The data targeted by this act of cyber-maliciousness are the “last name, first name, postal address, email, telephone number and donation amount” And, “for almost 3% of impacted data”, certain banking information (IBAN and BIC), detailed Sidaction. The association specified that “bank card data, however, is not affected”.

“Aware of the consequences that may result from this event, we are doing everything we can to limit its effects”she assured, specifying that she had “individually informed all those concerned”. The association also notified the National Commission for Information Technology and Liberties (CNIL), the digital policeman.

Sidaction encourages its donors to “remain vigilant in the face of any type of approach or proposal that could appear fraudulent” but assured that it is “still possible to make a secure online donation”, its service provider reinforcing “existing security measures”.
