The show has gone on long enough

All but the Ukrainians expected a rapid Russian invasion and an overthrow of the government within days. Ukraine would be sacrificed to spare Vladimir Putin’s susceptibility.

Since Ukraine is not a member of NATO, the member countries of this distinguished organization obviously could not intervene militarily, by sending troops to defend our Ukrainian neighbors and “friends”. The defense of democracy in Ukraine against the Russian invader is a good cause. But certainly not enough to risk the lives of our soldiers… Especially since Vladimir Putin, playing the fool, informed the world that he was putting all his military deterrent forces on alert – including “nuclear” – in the event of direct intervention by third countries. As if we recently discovered Russia’s nuclear armament and the predatory and brutal profile of its president…

But that was without taking into account the incredible bravery of the Ukrainian people and their president, Volodymyr Zelenski. For more than twelve days now, the invader has been hounding Ukraine, and Kiev is still holding out! What can we say about these images, instantaneous and incessant, of Ukrainian civilians, in exodus for the lucky ones, crammed into makeshift shelters or bombarded for women, children and the sick, and requisitioned to defend their homeland, with the means at hand , for men aged 18 to 60.

These images are starting to weigh heavily, at least for some. The show is longer than expected. How long will we accept to watch, powerless, this massacre which, obviously, will intensify in the days and weeks to come?

I would not want to live in a former colony of the USSR, especially Moldova or a Baltic country, even a member of NATO. […]
