The police officer who killed two men on Sunday, suspected of having forced a check, by shooting at their car near the Pont-Neuf in Paris, was indicted on Wednesday April 27, in particular on the count of “intentional homicide against of the driver of the vehicle”, learned franceinfo from a judicial source.
The policeman was also indicted for “willful violence by a person holding public authority resulting in death without the intention of giving it” against the front passenger, and the head of “willful violence aggravated by a person holding public authority” with regard to the rear passenger. Self-defense was not accepted.
This 24-year-old peacekeeper was also placed under judicial control with a ban on leaving the territory, a ban on appearing in Paris, and a ban on contact with the police department to which he belongs for six months. He is also prohibited from exercising any police function involving contact with the public, from carrying a weapon, and from entering into contact with the victims. He will also have to submit to an obligation of care.
The driver of the car, aged 25, found inert at the wheel, and his front passenger, 31, discovered lying on the ground to the right of the car, died on the spot. The 42-year-old rear passenger was injured in the arm and hospitalized.
The police officer who fired, a member of a night support group within the City Security Company (CSC), had been in police custody since Monday, questioned by the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN ).
