The victims are Swedish supporters who were going by taxi to the King Baudouin stadium for a Belgium-Sweden football match. At 8 p.m., the shooter claimed responsibility on social media for killing Swedes, saying he wanted to avenge Muslims. His scooter was found during the night, in the neighboring town of Schaerbeek, near his home. A witness spotted him shortly after 8 a.m. on Tuesday in a tea room, before alerting the police. The police shot him in the chest. Emergency services tried to resuscitate him, in vain. He died shortly afterwards.
