The cartoons shared by the Russian ambassador to France on Twitter didn’t make many people laugh. Certainly not Jean-Yves Le Drian and Emmanuel Macron.
These two cartoons tweeted yesterday by the official account of the Russian Embassy in France (then deleted) are deemed “unacceptable” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which summoned the ambassador. (#AFP)1/2 pic.twitter.com/hmNafzju92

In a first image, we see two men, one representing the United States and the other “the European empire”, injecting doses of “Russophobia”, “neo-Nazism”, “sanctions” and of “Covid-19” on a “patient” representing Europe, who has already received doses from NATO and “cancel culture”. The second of the Europeans on their knees licking Uncle Sam’s buttocks with the caption: “European solidarity as it is”.
This tweet, published Thursday, March 24, has certainly been removed but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to summon the Russian ambassador. “We strive to maintain a demanding channel of dialogue with Russia,” but these “actions are completely inappropriate”, said the Quai d’Orsay. “These posts are unacceptable. We made it clear today to the Russian ambassador.”Alexei Meshkov.
Joined by theAFPthe Russian Embassy, confirmed that “the question of the published tweet had been raised, among other points”, during the interview which took place on the morning of Friday 25 March. The Russian ambassador has on his side “draw the attention of our French colleagues to the provocations and acts of vandalism against Russian diplomatic representations in France”. The President of the Republic had reacted, at the end of the European Council: “I hope this mistake will not happen again. We demanded it”he said. “These publications are unacceptable, we believe in dialogue but in respect”.
