The first movie trailer Avatar: The Way of the Water just landed online.

Showing in cinemas since Friday, these images announce the arrival of director James Cameron’s feature film on December 16, more than a decade after the release of the first part, which remains the highest-grossing film of all time with receipts of 2.84 billion US.
According to a statement from 20th Century Studios, Avatar: The Way of the Water will tell the story of the Sully clan (Jake, Neytiri, and their children), their problems, their search for security, their battles to survive, the tragedies they have to accept. Produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau, this new chapter will star Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet.

Lasting one minute and 47 seconds, this teaser in vibrant colors suggests a sequel whose action will take place both on land and under the water of Pandora, the exomoon at the heart of the universe ofAvatar. We can notably see a giant whale and several Toruk, the flying creatures of the first feature film.

To whet the public’s appetite, and above all to garner more dollars at the counters, the first Avatar will resume on September 23.
