Emergency sealing, and sandbags to replace the dike, collapsed during the night of Monday April 8 to Tuesday April 9, in Bardouville (Seine-Maritime). With high tides, the Seine cannot flow, and swells in the Normandy commune. The sandbags placed on the banks of the river will not have lasted long. Under the pressure of the current, a breach is created, and a torrent flows onto the road and into the gardens. The firefighters, themselves surprised by the speed of the rising waters, were forced to retreat.
A still high tide on Wednesday
50 kilometers from the English Channel, several towns, nestled in the meanders of the Seine, have been living with the tides since Monday.
