The Seeds of Gus

It is in the Aisne at Vaux en Vermandois that Guillaume Thomas grows organic pulses on the family farm. His passion: the search for new varieties that produce well and adapt to the Picardy climate.

It is in 2020 that William Thomas decides to diversify the crops on the family farm. The market is buoyant and the desire to innovate is there. Guillaume chooses to go into seeds. He offers quinoa, black lentils called Beluga, green lentils, beans, quinoa and soon Chia seedsall organically grown.

Embarking on a new crop means taking the risk that it will not produce the first year. Guillaume sows on a small area to limit the risks. But he never gives up and always looks for the best seeds before sowing on larger plots.

Guillaume is the 3rd generation. And for a few days he became “The Boss” of the operation with the responsibilities that go with it. But Dad is not far away, even though he has retired, he continues to give a hand to the son.

If at the beginning the farm was in sustainable agriculture, little by little the surfaces cultivated in organic are growing. All this is discussed as a family, everyone progresses at their own pace.

The seeds of Gus are referenced by the brand Terroirs Hauts de France, a safe bet.
