The secrets of Willis, the first human to beat “Tetris”

Last month, Willis Gibson, a 13-year-old American boy, did the unthinkable: beat Tetris, a video game created in 1984. This is the very first time that a human has succeeded! Before him, only artificial intelligence had managed to go this far in Tetris. Who is this block genius? Aces meet him.

Tetris was created with no real end. But Willis, whose player name is Bluescuti, got all the way to level 157, and the game simply stopped working. In the world of video games, we call this type of victory “ kill screen “.

How do you play Tetris?

How long have you been playing Tetris ?

For two and a half years now! I probably play one to two hours a day, every day.

Can you describe to me the moment when you realized that you had succeeded in beating Tetris ?

I was really excited and couldn’t believe it. I thought I had a chance to succeed, but me and another player were competing to beat the game. I thought he was going to be first, but I had a game that went really far and I succeeded.

How did your friends at school react?

Many children ask me for photos. Sometimes people I’ve never met come up to me like they know me. It’s really strange, but still pretty cool.

Is your high level Tetris helps you in life, as well as in your organization?

I’m good at organizing blocks, but not my room, hahaha!

Do you play other video games?

Oh yes ! I play Minecraft, Rocket League And Geometry Dash. But Tetrisit’s my favorite game.

Would you like to break other records?

I want to continue playing Tetris, and if someone takes my record, I’m going to want it back. I also participate in tournaments Tetris.

Do you have any advice for young people who will read the article?

If there’s something you really want, you might as well give it a shot!
