After the arrest of 9 suspected smugglers in the terrible sinking of a migrant boat, several questions remain. Some are still looking for their loved ones.
It is a rare reunion scene that took place on the morning of June 16 in Kalamata (Greece), almost a miracle. A migrant, survivor of the shipwreck, finds his brother, Mohamed, who came from Holland where he lives today. They are 104 to have survived, a majority of Syrians and Egyptians, but also 12 Pakistanis and 2 Palestinians. 78 people are officially dead and hundreds more are missing.

In the streets of Kalamata, relatives desperately search for missing people. “I lost my wife, I don’t know where she is“, worries a Syrian. Last night, nine people were arrested. These are nine Egyptians among the survivors, suspected of being the smugglers. Among them find the captain of the boat. Some witnesses speak of 750 people on board the old fishing boat. According to survivors, the journey to death would have cost 4,500 euros by person.
