Telephoning multiplies the risk of an accident by three, and reading an SMS multiplies it by 23. Even if it is authorized, the hands-free kit in the car radio does not reduce the risks.

Motorized two-wheelers are not more disciplined. 15% of them admit to watching videos and 20% reading SMS, according to the Axa survey. Telephoning is therefore almost commonplace. On the road, these behaviors are not sufficiently punished, according to “Victimes & Citoyens”, an association of road victims. In four years, the number of traffic offenses linked to smartphones has increased by 40%.
