Thefts on construction sites have increased by 13% in one year. This phenomenon is of concern to business leaders in the construction industry. Some have decided to go on the offensive.

A construction company deplores thefts of machinery worksite, already 10 since the beginning of the year. “In three minutes, he leaves with a vibrating plate, fuel, even a mini-excavator“, deplores David Hervé, the director of the Hervé SAS company. He tries to protect his equipment as best he can. In particular, he hides his machines in the shed of a neighboring farmer. Despite his precautions, he has already lost 100,000 euros in gear worksites in a year.

The gears of worksite are increasingly sought after. Thefts increased by 13% in one year. One out of two construction companies would have been a victim. According to Olivier David, commercial director of Coyotte France, the price of these machines to several thousand euros would have increased. “It arouses the greed of a certain number of hookers who wish to benefit from it by concealing“, explains the professional. So, to limit losses, the rental company TipMat has installed geolocated boxes on each of its vehicles. In 2022, 20 million euros of equipment were stolen from worksites in France.
