The student arrested Friday after threatening the principal of the Edouard-Herriot college in Chenôve (Côte-d’Or) with a knife was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention, the Dijon prosecutor’s office announced on Sunday March 17 . “The minor accused was indicted for all of the offenses charged and placed in pre-trial detention” Sunday, declared Sunday evening, in a press release, the public prosecutor, Olivier Caracotch.

This 15-year-old minor was arrested mid-afternoon on Friday by the police. In addition to the knife threats, he had in his possession a letter, in which he stated his intention to kill and take hostages. In police custody, he “never disputed the facts” but he “however gave two very different explanations” of his actions, Olivier Caracotch had reported earlier in the day, between disagreement with his English teacher and reference to the attacks of November 2015.

Informed of the facts, “the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office does not retain its jurisdiction, excluding at this stage any criminal qualification of a terrorist nature”, had already declared the Dijon prosecutor’s office on Saturday. But the schoolboy’s version nevertheless implies “additional investigations which will be carried out by an investigating judge”, according to the prosecutor. A judicial investigation had been opened to “attempted intentional homicide on a teacher” and “intentional violence resulting in incapacity of less than eight days”.
