The School project together

The observation made by Mme Ghazal of the effects of a three-tier system on public schools agrees with mine. We will not be able to develop public schools or even protect them against mediocrity if we maintain the inequity that they suffer from. To this end, the School together offers a model of change which should, it seems to me, find resonance in its political training. In two words: multiply specific projects without selection on the basis of grades in all regions of Quebec and create a status of approved schools for private schools which would agree to open their doors without any selection to all students of a determined school pool.

These schools would then receive 100% of the subsidy and would keep their management method and their union affiliations. This model has the advantage of achieving the desired objective (reduction of the percentage of students selected in private schools from 21% to a proportion between 5% and 7%, as in Ontario), without all the complexity of a pure and simple elimination of subsidies, the bankruptcies that would follow and the squandering of significant real estate.
