Bombings continue in the Gaza Strip on Saturday April 20. Humiliation, looting, destruction… Some Israeli soldiers stage their abuses on social networks. The IDF, which recognizes the facts, claims to have taken sanctions.

An explosion accompanied by cries of joy, a soldier who jokes about the destruction, or another who curses a Palestinian woman… Hundreds of videos posted on social networks arouse unease. One of them features an invitation to celebrate a wedding. In reality, it is an explosion count. You can also see destruction filmed as a show with DJ, or a soldier dressed as a dinosaur loading shells and dancing after the shot.

Soldiers film themselves destroying Palestinian property

Aya Kasher, professor of ethics and philosophy, who wrote the Code of Behavior for Soldiers, recalls that “force must be used to accomplish a mission”that she “must serve no other purpose”and that it is not necessary “show no joy”. In Gaza, soldiers also film themselves destroying Palestinian property. Others are filmed in bedrooms, showing off personal jewelry or women’s underwear.

According to Uri Givati, a former soldier and member of the “Breaking the Silence” organization, these behaviors are linked to the rise of the far-right around the world. “This means that there are more commanders who support this destruction, this idea of revenge”, he comments. If the IDF claims to have called its soldiers to order, videos still continue to be posted.
