the Sarthe circuit returns for a much-awaited 68th edition

After being canceled two years in a row, the Sarthe-Pays-de-la-Loire circuit is finally returning in 2022. Details on this 68th edition will be revealed in a press conference on Tuesday, February 15. This Sarthe cycling meeting enjoys international recognition, analyzes the sponsor of the event and former cyclist Roger Legeay.

The circuit “is one of the events where you have to score points”

The Sarthe circuit is an unmissable eventexplains Roger Legeay: “Within the national competitions, there is of course the Tour de France. Then there is the Paris-Nice and the Dauphiné. And after that, it’s the Circuit de la Sarthe! national professional tests. And this particularly for young riders because the circuit is conducive to proving themselves. “We have events where they can really express themselves, whether it’s the sprint, the time trial or the breakaways”analyzes Roger Legeay.

In Sarthe, this competition has little equivalence in terms of scale apart from the 24 Hours of Le Mans. “There are great teams that participate in the Tour de France, the World Championships or Paris-Roubaix”, explains Roger Legeay. Great athletes who rely on the circuit to climb the rankings. “In cycling, today we are in a very competitive context. The Sarthe circuit is one of the events where you have to score points.”

The route will largely resume that of 2020, which had been cancelled. Only the third stage changes location and will take place in Sablé-sur-Sarthe. The first takes place in Mamers, the second in Le Lude and the fourth in La-Chapelle-Saint-Aubin.
