The Santé Québec agency in operation on December 1

It is finally on December 1st that the new Santé Québec agency will take office. It is in particular from this date that its employees will be integrated into the structure and that its president and chief executive officer (PCD), Geneviève Biron, will be accountable for the performance of the health network.

“It is now confirmed!” December 1, 2024 will be the official date of integration of establishments in the health and social services network into Santé Québec,” Biron recently wrote on the LinkedIn platform.

However, Ms. Biron will not grant an interview before the holidays, the agency spokesperson said Thursday.

Since her appointment at the end of April, Ms. Biron has been very discreet in the media, except to reveal, in an interview with The Pressthat she was going to entrust her assets in the company Propulia Capital to a mandate without right of inspection.

Meanwhile, internal meetings follow one another. The executive vice-president of Santé Québec, Frédéric Abergel, hosted a first in-person meeting on Wednesday in Quebec with the CEOs of the sixteen integrated health and social services centers.

The board of directors of Santé Québec, led by Christiane Germain, held its first meeting on June 14.

Employees with transitional status

December 1 coincides with the entry into force of Law 15 under which the Agency was created, underlines the press secretary of the Minister of Health Christian Dubé, Audrey Noiseux.

The latter also specifies that Ms. Biron will not be the only one to be accountable for the health network from December 1, since the minister will continue to do so.

It is also on December 1 that the Agency’s new employees (at least 700 people) will be officially integrated into the state corporation with a new status.

Until then, these people, who previously worked for the Minister of Health, will be able to work for the Agency but with a transitional status within the framework of a service loan.

Ms. Biron also met her future employees for the first time on June 4. The latter will work either at the head office in Quebec or in the Agency’s new offices in Montreal.
