Nearly a year and a half after the death of her husband, Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II is again immersed in mourning. On Wednesday August 3, 2022, our British colleagues from L’Express indeed revealed that Queen Elizabeth II had just lost one of her closest friends.

Named Lady Mira Butter and who died at the age of 97 “peacefully” in London, the latter was the descendant of a prestigious line: that of Tsar Nicolas I of Russia and the playwright and poet Alexander Pushkin.

During her life, the childhood friend of Queen Elizabeth II has also dedicated part of her life to the arts, notably by creating the Pouchkine Prize which rewards the best literary works, a nice nod to her ancestors.

A strong friendship

After the death of Prince Philip in April 2021, the late Lady Mira Butter agreed to give an interview to the press in which she praised the husband of the Queen of England: “Nobody, for me, n could have done this job. Nobody. He was devoted to this task and very intelligent, “she said, adding that his disappearance had plunged Prince Charles’ mother into “incalculable” pain.
