Some businesses have become real family and local institutions. Wednesday April 3, direction Bordeaux, in Gironde, in a family shop specializing in brushes for more than two centuries.

In Bordeaux (Gironde), between a barber and a fashion boutique, an ancestral shop catches the eye. The Russian Wild Boar has been full of hairy curiosities since 1814. A family treasure watched over by Olivier Darnaut. He is part of the fourth generation to keep the centuries-old French tradition of brushmaking alive. Animal rights activists can rest assured, the animal hair has been recovered from the farms. They are also made from synthetic fibers for art brushes.

A family business

The Russian Boar, which takes its name from animal hair hairbrushes, is full of tools and brushes for cleaning enthusiasts. The manager, Olivier, demonstrates it. “You can pass your brush everywhere to dust”, he assures. These marvels are mainly sold to professionals, but also to individuals eager for advice. A brush store that has stood the test of time. It is even the last brush factory in France.
