the Russian president of AS Monaco, Dmitry Rybolovlev, donates to the Red Cross

The club says it wants to help the “civilian populations suffering from the armed conflict”. AS Monaco announced on Wednesday March 9 that it would make a donation for the victims of the war in Ukraine. “Responding to the appeal launched by the International Federation of the Red Cross (…), AS Monaco and its president Dmitry Rybolovlev, in a personal capacity, made donations to the Monegasque Red Cross, in order to come to aid to civilian populations suffering from the armed conflict in Ukraine“, explains the ASM in a statement posted on its website.

Dmitry Rybolovlevmajority shareholder since 2013, says he is “absolutely necessary to support those who suffer the most“. According to AFP, the Russian promised donations “consequent” which he will carry out through Monaco, Cercle Bruges (which he also owns), and by dipping into his personal fortune. Neither the club nor the Rybolovlev family trust wished to communicate the exact amount of the contribution.

A Monegasque resident for nine years, the businessman had officially left Russia in 2010 and recovered a Cypriot passport. His name does not appear in the lists of Russian personalities whose assets the European Union has frozen, nor in that drawn up by the American Congress.

His fortune, estimated at more than 6 billion euros. It comes mainly from the forced sale of his shares in Uralkali, a global potash giant, of which he was the majority shareholder, to relatives of Vladimir Putin in 2010.
