In Severodonetsk, in eastern Ukraine, the city was emptied of its 100,000 inhabitants. As of Thursday, June 16, there would be only 10,000 left.

A cloud of smoke billowed from the besieged factory in an industrial zone in Severodonetsk, eastern Ukraine. 500 civilians and Ukrainian fighters are said to have taken refuge there. On Wednesday June 15, Russia accused kyiv of having prevented the evacuation through a humanitarian corridor of civilians who would be hiding in the Azot chemical plant. The latter has become a symbol of the Battle of Severodonetsk. For four months, the Russians have been trying to seize this key city in Donbass.

The population is under constant bombardment. Almost all the infrastructure no longer works. The city was emptied of nine tenths of its population. The Russians are bringing more and more weapons there, according to the local authorities, who announce that 10,000 civilians are still present there. The noose tightens around them.
