The Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Mechkov will be summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday February 5, franceinfo learned from diplomatic sources, after the death of two French humanitarian workers in Ukraine in Russian strikes last Thursday.

The ministry will also denounce “disinformation which targets France”, specifies a diplomatic source.

An investigation opened for war crimes

On February 2, two French aid workers were killed in a strike in Beryslav, southern Ukraine. Three other French nationals were injured during this bombing, specifies a diplomatic source. Emmanuel Macron denounced Friday on X (ex-Twitter) a “cowardly and unworthy act“.

The French anti-terrorism prosecution (Pnat) has opened an investigation into war crimes and intentional harm to the life of a person protected by international humanitarian law.
