While cases of contamination explode in France, the rules concerning isolation will change on January 3. Vaccinated contact cases will no longer have to isolate themselves.
From Monday January 3, the rules change regarding the duration of isolation. For vaccinated people and contact cases, isolation will no longer be compulsory. It will simply be necessary to carry out tests on D + 2 and D + 4. For the unvaccinated, on the other hand, a seven-day isolation should be observed and a test should be performed at the end of the period. “At some point you have to make decisions that both protect people and at the same time prevent the economy from stopping.”, advances a passerby.
In the event of contamination for vaccinated persons, the isolation period is reduced to seven days, or even five in the absence of symptoms. But the unvaccinated will have to isolate themselves for ten days, seven if they have no symptoms. The objective is to avoid blocking the country in the face of the Omicron variant. “It would seem that for vaccinated people, Omicron is not really dangerous. (…) So there was no need to paralyze society if indeed Omicron is not so pathogenic”, explains Patrick Pelloux, president of the Association of emergency physicians.
