The route of the 55th edition of the Tour du Limousin was unveiled this Friday, June 10 by the organizers. This round of 717.6 kilometers is divided into four stages scheduled from Tuesday 16 to Friday 19 August. 120 municipalities of Dordogne, Haute-Vienne and Corrèze will be crossed by cyclists.
19 teams are involved including six in UCI World Teams: AG2R Citroën Team, Cofidis, Groupama FDJ, Intermarché Wanty Robert, Lotto Soudal and UAE Team Emirates.
1st stage: Verneuil sur Vienne – La Souterraine
For this first stage, on Tuesday August 16, the start is scheduled for 12:35 p.m. from Verneuil sur Vienne in Haute-Vienne with an arrival in Creuse around 5 p.m. This first stage of around 170 kilometers has three hills to climb, the Côte de Bessines with a gradient of 5.11%, the Côte de Crozant at 4.56% and the Côte de Cazine at 4.54%.
2nd stage: Le Grand Périgueux Champcevinel – Ribérac
The second stage on Wednesday August 17 is 100% Périgourdine. Departure is scheduled in Champcevinel, in the Grand Périgueux at 12:15 p.m. for an arrival in Ribérac between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Here too, three climbs are on the program for the runners: the Côte des Basses Veyrinas at 4.94%, the Côte de Siorac with a gradient of 6% and the Côte du Colombier at 3.30%. This stage, which will notably pass through Boulazac, Atur, Chalagnac, Razac, Ségonzac Montagrier or even Mareuil, covers just over 187 kilometres.
3rd stage: Donzenac – Malemort
Thursday August 18, start of the third stage from Donzenac in Corrèze at 12.25 p.m. for an arrival scheduled around 5 p.m. in Malemort in Corrèze as well. Four hills are to be climbed: the Côte d’Albignac at 6.34%, the Côte de Sainte-Féréole at 5.92%, the Côte de Vertougit at 6.31% and the Côte de Saint-Antoine-les-Plantades at 4.47%. This third stage is about 181 kilometers long.
4th stage: Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre – Limoges
The fourth stage on Friday August 19 will leave Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre in Haute-Vienne at 12:35 p.m. with an arrival like every year on boulevard Beaublanc in Limoges around 5 p.m. Three hills are to be crossed, one of which is more than 7%, that of Tuquet. There is also the Côte de Boisseuil at 4.89% and the Côte du Palais at 5.24%.
