the Route du Rhum, 20 years old

Martin Louchart is used to hearing about his age. In 2019 he was already the youngest of the gang
on the Transat Jacques Vabre… at only 17 years old.

Three years later, it still has the status of youngest of the race on the mythical Route du Rhum who soars this Sunday in Saint-Malo
. A 20-year-old youngest with a CV that looks more and more like that of an old sea bass. After two Transat Jacques Vabre as a duo, Martin Louchart will this time be alone aboard his Class 40 to cross the Atlantic.

“The only unknown factor is myself. Being on your own will be the great discovery”

To avoid slack solo, the granvillais – who recently put down his suitcases in Cherbourg – took with him something to cheer up: “I’m very into food, small cakes and sweets, I like that”.

But to really satisfy the ogre appetite of the young skipper, the objective will be to finish this first shot of the Route du Rhum. Martin Louchart hopes to join Guadeloupe in the first part of the Class 40 classification.
