A birthday that promises to be sunny! La Roue Tourangelle celebrates its 20th anniversary this Sunday, March 27. For this edition, 18 teams are present and 126 runners take the start of the cycling race, for 202 km from Château-Renault to Boulevard Jean-Royer in Tours. A race that will be without last year’s winner, Arnaud Démare.
Nacer Bouhanni, Marc Sarreau and Bryan Coquard on the starting line
An absence which is not to displease the other cadors of the French sprint, starting with the second and third of the 2021 edition, Nacer Bouhanni and Marc Sarreau. Also on the starting line, Bryan Coquard, just like our Touraine Jonathan Hivert.
202 kms to cover between Château-Renault and Tours
As for the course, the start is given at 1:15 p.m. at Château-Renault. The runners will make a loop in Castel Renaud, passing through Nouzilly, Crotelles and Autrèche, before going up in the north-west of the department, towards Neuvy-le-Roi and Saint-Christophe-sur-le-Nais. Then head south, towards Neuillé-Pont-Pierre, Pernay and Langeais where cyclists will cross the Loire.
On the other bank, a paved sector of 800 meters awaits them. Then, two other difficulties: the coasts of Carnaux in Ballan-Miré and that of Epan in Joué-lès-Tours. The arrival is like last year: the runners will arrive from the Gloriette, cross the Cher on the Saint-Sauveur bridge before starting the Lakanal district circuit. The winner will then raise their arms on boulevard Jean-Royer, between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
